Crazy quilting, cross-stitch, and a fake bronze sign

Been busy running around doing house inspections and also trying to catch up on demo recording, but I did get some crafting done since my last post.

Crazy quilting

I won’t show the whole of this until after next week’s guild meeting for the challenge reveal, but here’s a peek:

It’s now about 3/4 done on the quilting, so I’m in good shape to have it ready for my guild meeting.

Chugging away on a few pieces:

Above: Prairie Schooler‘s “Night Flight;” below, Thea Dueck‘s Canadian Cross Stitch sampler:

Above: finally started on the tree in Carriage House Samplings‘ “Birds & the Bees”. Below, pulled out Little House Needleworks‘ “New England Winter Sampler,” which I think I started last fall.

Fake bronzing house sign

I picked up this oval plastic house number plaque for my new house. The border was plain black plastic, but since I bought oil-rubbed bronze door knobs to update the doors, I figured I’d do a faux finish.

Enter some craft paint:

I just put a tiny dab of the paints (gold first then copper) onto a wadded up paper towel and lightly rubbed the high spots. Turned out pretty good, especially if seen from a distance, which is kinda the idea for a house sign.
